Lee Anderson has been accused of’reaching new lows’ by advising a guest on his GB News show to consume cat food.
The Conservative Deputy Leader, 56, is the latest Conservative MP to have his own programme, and he’s already made his small audience cringe by attempting to offer Tory MP Brendan Clarke-Smith cold baked beans.
He tried multiple times this time to convince colleague GB News presenter and former The Apprentice contestant Michelle Dewberry to eat some canned fish pate for cats.
Despite the fact that she dressed up like a cat on her own programme to criticise youngsters who identify as cats (even though they were kidding), she declined.
Anderson joked that he was trying to determine whether she was a genuine cat, which is insane in and of itself, and continued to push the pet food on Dewberry.
‘Just a few weeks back, Michelle, you appeared as a cat with some “feline feelings” and we want to dismiss this as just a blip,’ Anderson began.
It didn’t take a detective to see where this was going so sharp as a button Dewberry quickly interrupted: ‘If you’re about to bring out a plate of Whiskers you can bugger off.’
Despite the fact that the stunt was extremely unpleasant, he proceeded.
‘There’s a tin of cat food here. We’re going to get it out to see if you’re a cat.’
Dewberry suitable replied: ‘Are you mental? Well, no I’m not [a cat].’
Anderson promised to sample the food himself if she tried a bite.
Still, Dewberry, looking perplexed, said: ‘I don’t want to, no.’
It’s no wonder that the moment has been ruthlessly ridiculed online.
Anderson has been likened to George Galloway, since this is without a doubt the craziest politician-meets-cat incident since the Celebrity Big Brother star crawled on the floor and meowed for no apparent reason.
Others have called for a general election, claiming that the country has devolved into a “laughing stock.”

If I was stuck on a desert island with Lee Anderson and the tin of cat food, I'd eat Lee Anderson and talk to the cat food.

‘Imagine if this was your MP?’ asked one appalled viewer.
‘This is a new low even by Lee Anderson’s standards,’ said Liberal Democrat Treasury spokesman Sarah Olney. Rishi Sunak should instantly reject these heinous remarks.
‘Anything else would be a damning indictment of his leadership of this sleaze-ridden Conservative government.’
Anderson joined GB News in March, proclaiming proudly, “GB News is the authentic voice of the great British silent majority.”
‘I’m joining the people’s channel to ensure their voice is heard.’
He’s famously blasted food banks, claiming he can teach individuals who rely on them how to prepare affordable and healthy meals from scratch for ‘around 30 cents a day,’ despite the fact that cat food costs 75 pence each can.
