Laura Linney has spoken out regarding a prospective Frasier revival appearance, revealing that she hasn’t heard anything about her character returning.
Fans are preparing for the relaunch of the renowned sitcom, which ran for 11 seasons before ending in 2004.
Kelsey Grammer returned as Dr. Frasier Crane, while Peri Gilpin and Bebe Neuwirth were just confirmed to be reprising their roles as Roz Doyle and Lilith Sternin, respectively.
The series concluded with the radio psychiatrist falling in love with matchmaker Charlotte before she relocated to Chicago from Seattle – with the closing scenes of the finale indicating that he had relocated to be with her again.
There has been speculation that the two would live happily ever after in the upcoming episodes, putting a stop to Frasier’s bad luck with romance.
Laura confessed during the Tribeca Film Festival premiere of her current film, The Miracle Club, that she has no idea where her character is today.
When asked if we’ll see Charlotte again on our televisions, the 59-year-old said, ‘Not that I’m aware of!’
‘I love that whole group of people so I’d be… I have no idea what their plans are,’ she added of a possible return. ‘They’re keeping it close to the vest.’
Frasier – a spin-off of the Cheers – first hit our screens in 1993 and became an instant hit, going on to scoop 37 Emmys and two Golden Globes during the 11-year run.
Last year, Paramount+ stated that the stuffy doctor would return to our screens over 20 years after the series ended.
The narrative is unknown, but Frasier will be accompanied by a new cast of characters, including Nicholas Lyndhurst, Anders Keith, and Jack Cutmore-Scott, who will play his son, Frederick.
Roz and Lilith will also make an appearance, however Niles (David Hyde Pierce) and Daphne (Jane Leeves) are not expected to return.
The remake has divided fans, but Kelsey just revealed why now is the greatest moment for the famous character to return.
‘He’s lived a kind of a parallel life with me. Now we’ve found our way back to one another,’ the Simpsons star told the Times.
‘This character, who is obviously fictional, has a life outside of mine that is just as believable and palpable as the one I’ve actually lived —and I’m good at playing him. We were funny together.’
