The unmasked daughter of a late sporting star has left The Masked Singer Australia panel in tears.
The latest season of the reality singing competition is now airing in Australia, with prior eliminations including former Beverly Hills, 90210 actor Brian Austin Green and presenter Sandra Sully.
However, the disclosure of the person behind the Bad Avocado outfit startled the panel in the most recent episode, which aired this week.
The show had been baited with a bombshell that would’melt Australia’s hearts’ prior to the unveiling.
After a performance of Coldplay’s popular Yellow, the outfit was removed, revealing Shane Warne’s daughter Summer, 21.
Summer is the youngest of the late cricketer’s three children with ex-wife Simone Callahan, who died in March last year at the age of 52.
Melanie Brown, Abbie Chatfield, Dave Hughes, and Chrissie Swan were obviously touched when she spoke on the show about her song choice, which she sang as a memorial to her father.
Summer explained that she had always liked singing and wanted to make her father pleased after removing her disguise.
‘Yellow was actually his funeral song,’ she shared.
‘It was the opening to his funeral and Chris Martin sang it at the state memorial.’
She added: ‘That was his favourite Coldplay song. It’s such a significant song to me and my family.’
Summer was star-struck after meeting Spice Girls member Mel B before exiting the stage.
‘I love you all so much,’ she told the judges.
‘But Mel B, I just like, I seriously adore you.
‘When I was like 15 years old, I dressed up as the Spice Girls. It’s like, “I just wanna be Mel B”.’
Summer’s elder sister Brooke, 25, posted a series of images on social media earlier this year of the family hanging out with Coldplay’s Chris Martin backstage during their Wembley gigs.
She began her Instagram post with a photo of herself delivering a huge hug to Chris as they grinned happily for the camera in the empty venue.
She wrote that she’d had ‘one of the most incredible nights’ and said the band would ‘forever be my favourite concert of all time’.
Chris and Warne struck up a friendship after meeting in a lift in 2001.
Following Warne’s death while on holiday in Ko Samui, Thailand, Chris performed a piano solo for the private family funeral, as well as a video message and acoustic performance for his state memorial service.
The Masked Singer airs on Channel Ten in Australia.
