John Boyega has revealed that he’s ready to be cast in Netflix hit series Bridgerton – and we can already see the actor taking over as the dashing talk of the town.

Earlier this year, Bridgerton fans were devastated to learn that Regé-Jean Page, who left audiences swooning as the dashing Simon Bassett, Duke of Hastings, would be leaving the period drama ahead of season two.

While viewers are excited to watch a new sizzling courtship unfold between Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and newcomer Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley), Regé’s absence will surely be felt.

So perhaps a new member of the aristocracy could be introduced, in the form of Golden Globe winner John, as per his suggestion?

John recently took part in an actor’s roundtable with Regé-Jean, Jonathan Majors, Josh O’Connor and Chris Rock, where they were all asked what Hollywood role they would love to play.

After telling The Hollywood Reporter that he wants to see Lovecraft Country star Jonathan or Regé-Jean as Superman, John was asked what part he’d be interested in, responding: ‘I’m trying to get that Bridgerton money, man. I need to wear them skintights. I need to be the new guy up in there.’

Regé-Jean joked that he’d like John’s ‘Star Wars money’ in return, laughing as he said: ‘You can have the Bridgerton money.’

‘But, honestly, something like that,’ John continued. ‘Give me a horse and a lovely maiden and all of that.’

Come on Bridgerton – let’s set Lady Whistledown’s tongue wagging with John’s debut on the show!

While looking back on the raunchy sex scenes he filmed for Bridgerton, Regé-Jean recently admitted that he felt ‘overwhelmed’ watching them.

‘No one was sufficiently prepared. I wasn’t sufficiently prepared, and I was there,’ said the actor, who’s currently being tipped as a possible contender to play James Bond.

‘It was overwhelming. But I think people were looking to be overwhelmed.’

He added that while his family ‘doesn’t want to be overwhelmed by my backside, specifically, too often’, they’ll ‘take it on this occasion because everyone seems to be terribly happy’.

Bridgerton season two is currently in development, with Daphne Bridgerton actor Phoebe Dynevor recently being spotted on set.

Ahead of the second season’s release, it’s already been renewed for a third and fourth series.

Bridgerton season one is available to watch on Netflix.
