Andrew Garfield has revealed he is up for doing Strictly Come Dancing – but only if he wins an Oscar first – and Johannes Radebe is more than up for dancing with him.

The actor, 38, is up for an Oscar for the role of Jonathan Larson, the creator of musical Rent, in Tick, Tick… Boom!, and if he happens to bag the coveted award, he’ll be slipping into some sequins and competing on Strictly too.

Appearing on Friday’s The Graham Norton Show alongside Strictly professional Johannes, who made history as part of the first all-male pairing on the show with John Whaite, Andrew confessed he’d love to take part.

Graham asked him: ‘Have you been approached?’

The former Spider-Man star responded: ‘It’s hard to confess this… I would love to do Strictly. I would absolutely love it – It’s on the bucket list.’

Putting his hand up in the air coyly, Johannes told him: ‘Well thank you, I’ll do it!’

Andrew replied: ‘It would be so much… If I win the Oscar, then I’ll come and do it. How’s that?’

Fellow guest Rob Beckett joked: ‘There’s a rich history of Oscar winners that have done it!’

Andrew will face stiff competition for the Oscar win on March 26 as the current favourite is Will Smith who is tipped to take the award for his role in King Richard.

While he’s up for a turn on the Strictly floor, Andrew is more hesitant to do a stage musical, saying that while he would ‘love to’, ‘you need to be a thoroughbred’.

He added: ‘I have the deepest respect for those performers.’

The Graham Norton Show airs Fridays from 10.35pm on BBC One.
