Documentary series Tiger King was one of the small screen hits of 2020, keeping viewers gripped throughout lockdown – so it’s no surprise to see that a sequel is now with us.

The highly-anticipated second series of the show drops on Netflix on November 17 promising even more mayhem and madness – with the streaming service telling fans that the original ‘only scratched the surface’.

It’s not yet clear whether Joe Exotic, the Tiger King himself, will appear in season two, given he is currently behind bars.

But with Carole Baskin saying she is gearing up for the possibility he could be released early, just when is Joe due to be let out of jail?

When will Joe Exotic be released from jail?

Currently, Joe Exotic – real name Joseph Maldondo-Passage – is serving a 22-year sentence for animal abuse charges as well as a murder-for-hire plot.

He was sentenced in early 2020, meaning he will not be due for release until 2042.

However, it’s likely he may be released sooner than that after a court ruled in July that he was wrongfully treated by the courts, and should have had the two charges combined into one sentence – meaning he should have been jailed for around 17 years.

Although he is awaiting a resentencing hearing, Exotic has asked to be released sooner, as he is battling ‘aggressive’ prostate cancer.

Updating fans on his official Instagram account, a message from Exotic said: ‘Everyone, It is with a sad face that I have to tell you the doctors called me in today to break the news that my prostate biopsy came back with an aggressive cancer, I am still waiting on the results from other test as well.

‘Right now I don’t want anyone’s pity and I’m sure Carole Will have her own party over this!’
