Jodie Turner-Smith has recreated Anne Boleyn’s execution in new photos released on the anniversary of her death from her upcoming Channel 5 drama.

The Queen and Slim actress plays a brand new version of the ill-fated queen, who was beheaded by husband Henry VIII when their marriage turned sour.

Anne, Henry VIII’s second wife, was notoriously killed for high treason on May 19, 1536, after failing to produce a male heir.

In new show stills published today, Jodie has recreated her unsettling execution.

Playing Anne, Jodie can be seen preparing to meet her fate as a scheming Thomas Cromwell (Barry Ward) looks on.

‘There’s so much about Anne’s legend that people believe – whether it’s that she was a witch, she had six fingers, or that she had an incestuous relationship with her brother – we’ve seen all these things portrayed in popular culture,’ Jodie said.
