Jimmy Kimmel is generally the one who gets celebs to share their most unusual stories, but his own vasectomy story is completely crazy.
While late-night talk programmes have been delayed due to writer’s strikes, Jimmy, 55, has chosen the opportunity to address some personal issues.
He claimed that he had scheduled a vasectomy, but that things did not go as planned, resulting in a less-than-comfortable Uber journey home.
Jimmy Fallon recounted the unusual sequence of events on his Strike Force Five podcast, which he co-hosted with Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers, John Oliver, and Jimmy Fallon.
Jimmy scheduled a vasectomy, a medical procedure that prohibits conception; he even shaved to prepare.
‘It’s complicated, and it’s a little bit scary,’ the Jimmy Kimmel Live host shared. ‘There’s nothing smooth down there. It’s like shaving chewing gum.’
He went to the doctor, all set to go, only to find out that the real vasectomy would require a second appointment – so he shaved for nothing.
Jimmy took an Uber home, which was disappointing but not the end of the world, but he got more than he bargained for when his driver overheard him discussing the surgery.
The driver suggested’semen retention’ to the talk show host as an alternate option.
‘Did he have a bunch of jars in the front seat?’ fellow host Stephen Colbert joked.
They were all utterly baffled by the suggestion, with Jimmy Fallon adding: ‘Is it like holding in a sneeze?’
‘Honestly I think it’s something he learned about on one of these podcasts these young guys listen to,’ responded Jimmy.
He added that the driver told him he ‘manifested’ meeting the Oscars host as it was ‘one of his desires’.
‘We had a very long ride home,’ confessed Jimmy.
John Oliver replied: ‘I think you may have inadvertently clicked that box on the Uber app to “please talk to me about semen retention”. That’s either a one-star ride or a five-star ride. And I think it might be both.’
The hosts began their podcast to encourage staff members during the writers’ strike, but Fallon has subsequently come under fire for creating a ‘toxic’ workplace.
Accusations of ‘bullying’ by employers and the host himself arose, and the 48-year-old apologised immediately to staff within hours.
