Jeremy Clarkson had a savage goodbye to one contestant on last night’s Who Wants To Be a Millionaire?
During Sunday night’s instalment, contestant Tom Young was hoping to win a life-changing amount of money.
However, after using his lifelines and taking too long to give Jeremy an answer, the host decided to end the segment by telling Tom: ‘You came, you saw, you made a mess of it.’
Tom started off playing the gameshow well as he managed to answer a number of questions without using a lifeline.
But, as he got to the fifth question, the contestant used his first lifeline as he wasn’t sure which famous battle was depicted on the Bayeux Tapestry.
He decided to ask Jeremy, who knew the correct answer and managed to win him £1,000.
Tom got stumped again on question seven, which was about American artist. Andy Warhol.
After using his 50/50 lifeline and phoning a friend, he managed to get to the £8,000 mark.
Eventually, Tom managed to get to the £16,000 mark, which is where his time on the show came to a brutal end.
The question where he could have won £32,000 read: ‘The Danish politician Birgitte Nyborg is the central character of which Nordic TV series?
The answers Tom could choose from were, Borgen, Wallander, The Bridge and The Killings.
To gave a guess of Wallander, but Jeremy quickly shut him down.
‘I won’t take up any more of your time. That’s wrong…,’ the former Top Gear host explained.
After he explained what each of the answers meant, Jeremy continued: ‘No matter, you came, you saw, you made a mess of it.
‘Erm, nevertheless, you are leaving with £16,000.’
Ouch…
