Jennifer Saunders has spoken about her most embarrassing stage experience, admitting that she once fell asleep during a Dawn French monologue.
We can only imagine how awkward that must have been.
The comedian was speaking on There’s Something About Movies when she said the moment came during a performance on the West End – and it’s something she’s never likely to forget.
During tonight’s episode, Jennifer is joined by Michael Sheen, David Tennant, Nish Kumar and Kevin Bridges on the panel show presented by Alan Carr.
Speaking to host Alan, Jennifer said: ‘I was in a play with Dawn. It was my first play.
‘There was a moment when I was playing this downtrodden character and I had to sit for a long time at a table and pretend to read this magazine while Dawn had this long speech.’
She went on to say: ‘I remember one time I picked it up and actually started reading it. I got lost in the magazine.’
‘Then, I nodded off. I actually nodded off, onstage in the West End. I came around to see Dawn Looking at me. I had no idea where I was, or what I was about to say. She wasn’t going to help me. She let me stew.’
Definitely not one of Jennifer’s finest moments…

Jennifer and Dawn have known each other since their days at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, and went on to co-write and star in the eponymous sketch show, French and Saunders.
Meanwhile, the 62-year-old recently revealed that doesn’t think that Absolutely Fabulous could be made today because ‘everything is sensitive’.
The comedian and actress wrote and starred in the hit 1990s sitcom, playing the heavy drinking, weight loss-obsessed PR agent Eddy Monsoon opposite her even more heavily drinking and drug abusing best friend Patsy Stone, played by Joanna Lumley.
Jennifer also revealed fans shouldn’t expect any more Ab Fab in the future.
There’s Something About Movies airs tonight at 9pm on Sky One and NOW TV
