Netflix has turned the Japanese anime franchise One Piece into a live-action TV series, and it has pleasantly pleased audiences.
The narrative stays mostly close to Eiichiro Oda’s original source material, as the eight episodes introduce us to Captain Monkey D. Luffy, played by Iaki Godoy, and his band of straw hat pirates. The crew spends their time searching for fabled wealth over the water, believing that if they locate it, he will become the greatest pirate of all time.
The action series, which also stars Emily Rudd and Mackenyu Arata, has a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 94%.
This is a huge accomplishment for the streamer since their earlier anime adaptations, such as Death Note and Cowboy Bebop, were not as warmly appreciated.
While the films The Ghost in the Shell and Dragonball Evolution received mixed reviews.
The strong appreciation might be attributed to Oda’s role as a creative adviser on the show, as well as the producers remaining faithful to the universe he built, which rewards longstanding fans.
One viewer declared the show had ‘broke the curse’ and added ‘this is by far the best live action anime show ever’. They also insisted on a season two.
Another person added that you do not need to be aware of the series in order to enjoy it: ‘I don’t know anything about this world, but I’m having such a fun time and the characters are excellent’.
I need season 2 , this is by far the best live action anime show ever

*SPOILERS AHEAD SO SAIL AWAY NOW IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS*
The story concludes with the gang of pirates failing to secure the legendary treasure, so there may be room for a much-desired sequel.
There are 1073 episodes of the cartoon on which the programme is based, so there is plenty of content.
If it follows the same timeline as the previous series, with production beginning in January 2022, wrapping up in August, and eventually premiering in August 2023, fans may expect new episodes in summer 2025.
One Piece is available to stream on Netflix.
