Thousands of critics have called on James Corden’s The Late Late Show to ban Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts, deeming the game ‘culturally insensitive’.

The segment sees Corden put celebrities on the spot, forcing them to either spill a bit secret or eat a food item which on the show is described as ‘disgusting’.

Actually a lot of the dishes are traditional Asian cuisine, which artist and activist Kim Saria has discussed on TikTok.

So far the game has seen Corden eat a cow’s tongue to avoid admitting which product he’s endorsed he uses the most, and Harry Styles eat cod sperm and water scorpion to swerve answering a question from his rumoured former girlfriend Kendall Jenner.

‘The foods that are presented are meant to be “gross” as they are supposed to encourage the guest to answer his questions instead,’ read the petition which has so far gained 15,000 signatures and counting.

‘However, many of the foods that he presents to his guests are actually from different Asian cultures.

‘He’s presented foods such as balut, century old eggs and chicken feet, and which are often regularly eaten by Asian people.’

‘In the wake of the constant Asian hate crimes that have continuously been occurring, not only is this segment incredibly culturally offensive and insensitive, but it also encourages anti-Asian racism,’ the petition continues.

‘So many Asian Americans are consistently bullied and mocked for their native foods, and this segment amplifies and encourages it.’

In the petition, Kim calls for the food to either be changed for items which aren’t culturally offensive, end the segment entirely or at least send a donation to help Asian-owned restaurants and small businesses.

One of the people to sign the petition said they were ‘standing with the Asian community’, while another vented: ‘Seeing my culture’s food used as a joke is offensive and lazy. Make better jokes.’

Others called the game ‘racist’ with someone else commenting: ‘I don’t support TV ratings through cultural mockery.’

The Late, Late Show airs on CBS in the US.
