Jade Goody’s mother, Jackiey Budden reportedly criticized Jeff Brazier after her grandson Bobby won the National Television Awards.
The 20-year-old actor received the rising star award for his role in BBC soap EastEnders at the recent ceremony.
During the event, Bobby, whose late mother passed away in 2009, dedicated his award to his father Jeff, who tearfully watched from the audience.
However, reports suggest that Bobby’s 66-year-old grandmother, Jackiey, expressed her thoughts on Jeff.
The Sun claims that Jackiey praised Bobby’s achievement but privately shared strong opinions about Jeff.
She said, ‘They didn’t know I was there. I didn’t want them to see me. I didn’t want to see their dad. He’s unpleasant. But I’ll wait until they’re older before expressing my feelings.’
Jackiey expressed her joy that Bobby joined Strictly this year, as his late mother was a huge fan of the show.
Bobby will join celebrities like Amanda Abbington, Zara McDermott, Les Dennis, and Angela Rippon in the upcoming Strictly 2023 cast.
Jackiey mentioned to The Mirror that she remains close to her grandson despite his busy schedule, with the soap filming in Hertfordshire while she lives in South London.
‘He sometimes has to start his day at 5am for EastEnders, so he’s constantly on the move,’ she explained.
‘However, we stay in touch through texts, which is lovely. He cares about his grandma, just like Freddie does.’
Following Goody’s death in 2009, Jeff took full custody of their two children, raising them away from the public eye.
The two boys served as best men at Jeff’s wedding to Kate Dwyer, and he continues to visit their mother’s grave with them every Christmas.
In a life insurance advertisement discussing Goody’s passing, Jeff reflected, ‘I quickly realized that I would be responsible for the boys for the rest of their childhood. It’s incredibly unfair that they lost such an incredible mother. I remember when Jade courageously told them she would be in heaven.’
