A new Jackass TV series is finally in the works on Paramount Plus following the success of the latest movie Jackass Forever.
It’s been 15 years since a series of Jackass aired on MTV, launching the careers of Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Chris Ponitus and ‘Wee Man’.
It ran for seven series and was easily one of the most pioneering shows of the noughties, following reckless men fearlessly putting themselves through the grimmest stunts, also spawning spin-off series Wild Boyz and Viva La Bam.
‘Based off the success of Jackass Forever, we’re working with the creators to continue the partnership with a new series, bringing even more ridiculous antics straight to Paramount+,’ Paramount Global CEO Bob Bakish confirmed.
The latest Jackass movie released in 2022 exceeded all expectations, taking $23.5million (£18.7m) in the US alone and over $80m (£63m) globally.
There’s still no word on if the original Jackass cast would be returning for the series, but co-creator and front man Johnny recently suggested his days of risking his life or genitals for the sake of entertainment might be long behind him.
‘I knew heading into this, this was my last hurrah with big stunts,’ the 50-year-old told EW while promoting the latest movie.
‘You can only take so many chances before one forever catches up with you.
‘I realised that and it’s amazing that I’m still walking around. I think I pushed my luck far enough.’
The news comes after the UK launch date for Paramount Plus was finally confirmed today, with users being able to sign up from June 22 for £6.99 a month.
