I’m A Celebrity’s Paul Burrell reveals the strict rule around the royal family’s bathtime routine

Paul Burrell has revealed the royal household’s bathtime rituals, exposing how specific the late Queen Elizabeth II was in her bathroom.

I’m A Celebrity’s new all-star series… South Africa has already proven to be a riveting viewing experience, with viewers eager to see every aspect of the dynamic in camp amongst celebs such as Gillian McKeith, Shaun Ryder, Janice Dickinson, and Carol Vorderman.

Paul, a former royal butler who last participated on the UK season of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2004, has a variety of anecdotes from his time as a member of the British royal household, having been the Queen’s personal footman a year after joining the royal service at the age of 18.

In a new clip from tonight’s episode of the ITV1 programme, the 64-year-old joked with his campmates: ‘If ever you need a butler, you’ve got me.’

Model Janice, 68, immediately asked a question that many viewers might have been wondering: ‘Did you have to give the Queen a bath?’

Paul explained that ‘she did that herself’, before adding: ‘You have to set the towels out and everything in a special way.’

He then revealed a strict rule that members of the royal family follow, sharing: ‘And royals never run their baths. They’re run for them. So they never have to put the plug in.’

Janice acknowledged to the Bush Telegraph that she tries to get as many stories out of Paul as possible since she is so interested by his experience with the royal family.

‘Paul the butler from the royal house has the best stories on Earth, so I kind of ask him little questions here and there, and he goes on and on, and I go, “Yes, yes!”’ she stated.

Tonight’s edition of I’m A Celebrity… Three more past contestants will make their triumphant comeback to South Africa: Myleene Klass, Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffolo, and Andy Whyment.

Myleene recalled the iconic white bikini she wore in the jungle shower during her final stint on the programme, saying, ‘I paid $40 on it and when I got out, I auctioned it off for £7,500.’

Andy described his return as a ‘incredible honour’ as a’massive fan’ of I’m A Celeb.

Former Queen of the Jungle Toff added: ‘There’s something about the magic of this show… to be asked to do it again, it’s too good of an opportunity for me to miss.

‘Can you imagine winning it for a second time? It’s obviously a huge pipe dream. It’s not going to happen, but it’s nice to be in the running.’

The newcomers discover that, rather of entering main camp right immediately, they must first go to the Savannah Scrub on their own.

I’m A Celebrity… South Africa returns tonight at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
