I’m a Celebrity… South Africa’s Helen Flanagan broke down in tears when speaking about her then-one-year-old son on tonight’s programme, as she attempted to do her children proud in a horrific task.
On Thursday’s episode of the ITV show, Coronation Street star Helen, 32, competed against former royal butler Paul Burrell, 64, for a luxurious picnic for their respective teams.
She struggled to conquer her concerns on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! the previous time she appeared. The actress was eager to establish herself in 2012, prompting EastEnders great Dean Gaffney, 45, to choose her for the role.
Before moving over to trial area, she had a motivating pep talk from her teammate Myleene Klass, 45, who told her: ‘It’s all in your brain. It’s all in your brain. Nothing will ever harm you.’
‘Also, there’s a superpower you have behind you, and that’s your children,’ the artist continued. There is no greater power. They make us proud every day, but this time you’ll get to make them proud,’ before the couple exchanged a massive hug.
Helen has three children from her previous relationship with Bristol Rovers player Scott Sinclair. The former couple, who divorced in July 2022, had two girls and a boy in March 2021.
Helen’s son was just one year old when she competed on I’m A Celebrity… South Africa. He’s two years old now.
Speaking in the Bush Telegraph, she explained how ‘big a deal’ it was for her to have participated in the show in the first place, because she’s ‘never away from my babies’.
‘My little boy’s only one. And he’s so cute,’ she said, before breaking down in tears.
‘He’s so cute. And I’ve got my four-year-old, and I’ve got my seven-year-old.’

Helen recognised that it was ‘weird’ to be separated from them, as she’s typically with her kids ‘all the time’, but it was driving her even more to head out to the trial and ‘truly give it a good try’.
That fire in her belly ended up doing her a lot of good, as she beat Paul and secured her team a swanky picnic, much to the chagrin of the other group.
Helen celebrated her son’s second birthday in March by posting a photo of him on Instagram shot the day after he was born.
‘Happy 2nd birthday to my dream boy my Prince Charlie ☁️🤍✨no words for how much I love you ✨ going to treasure you being 2 💙,’ she wrote in the caption.
Helen made her Coronation Street début in 2000 as Rosie Webster, a role she held until 2012.
She then returned to the role in 2017 for another year before resigning again in 2018.
I’m A Celebrity… South Africa returns tomorrow at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
