In tonight’s episode of I’m A Celebrity, hosts Ant and Dec tell the stars that for the first time in the show’s two-decade history, they will have the power to decide which campmate goes home.
Gillian and Shaun Ryder, Phil Tufnell and Georgia ‘Toff’ Toffolo, and Andy Whyment and Jordan Banjo competed in a Bushtucker Trial on Friday night’s episode, but it was Shaun and Gillian McKeith who were sent packing after failing terribly at a fairly terrifying job.
They were both ‘gutted’ to be eliminated first once their removal was verified, as they weren’t prepared.
‘I’m sorry to be leaving because I truly wanted to remain,’ Gillian explained.
Dec informs the camp at the end of today’s installment, “We bring news.” This will be one of your last nights at camp. But who it is this time is entirely up to you.’
It will be the first time in the show’s history that the campmates have picked who will go.
Former Countdown star Carol Vorderman says: ‘Oh no, that’s horrible,’ while former royal butler Paul Burrell adds: ‘That’s not nice.’
The participants appear to be facing a major choice.
This follows the announcement that Myleene Klass, Amir Khan, and Kelsey Flanagan would face the highest trial in the show’s history, named World’s End.
‘You’ve got to do better this time,’ says Series 17 champion Georgia Toffolo to an anxious Helen. ‘Sorry to be savage, but you have to.’
The three was told that they would be mounting a crane-like apparatus 1,100 metres in the air in order to detach stars and attach them to themselves.
A slightly nervous Amir stresses: ‘Camp’s been eating well… we have to get through this. We’ve got a strong team today. We’re going to make sure we have another feast tonight.’
Former Coronation Street actress Helen, who is known for backing out of trials, tells hosts Ant and Dec: ‘Guys, I’m not going to let you down, I’m going to do it.’
I’m A Celebrity South Africa continues tonight at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
