Shane Richie has addressed the ‘drama’ between himself and AJ Pritchard in the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! camp.
The EastEnders star and Strictly Come Dancing pro were seen appearing to clash at times during this year’s series – set in Gwrych Castle, Wales.
At one point, fans were convinced the dancer, 26, gave him a side-eye look over washing up chat.
However, speaking of the tense scenes, the 56-year-old insisted nothing happened, stating the reports made ‘no sense’.
Appearing on This Morning, Phillip Schofield asked about the tension, and whether it was something Shane recognised – to which he replied: ‘No, not at all.
‘AJ has gone on record to say the same as well. I saw it and I went, “That didn’t happen!” There were certain things, we had so much fun… My wife will tell you, I’m quite lazy around the house.
‘And so AJ, he’s so clean, he was one of the cleanest in the castle, he always made sure things were sparkling clean. We kind of put him on a pedestal. If anything [we would go], “AJ, are you alright with that?” “Yes mate, I’ll do it.” So when I saw that conflict, it made no sense whatsoever. It kind of didn’t happen.’
Shane also explained the pair have kept up their friendship since leaving the Castle last week, and have already made plans to support each other at their next projects – with Shane announcing his return to the stage soon.
He continued: ‘I’ve been speaking to AJ, he’s going to be touring next year with his brother, we spoke about it.
‘I’m saying, “AJ, can I come along and get up on stage with you?” He’s coming to see me in the musical. We’re meeting each other.
‘We don’t know what people are talking about.’
The pair appeared to throw jabs at each other over the cleaning in camp, with fans picking up over the awkward scenes.
Their family members got involved, with AJ’s brother, Curtis Pritchard, and Shane’s son, Shane Jr, discussing the apparent drama.
On his exit, AJ lifted the lid on the frustrations, suggesting that there were times he felt ‘frustrated’ when people didn’t pull their weight with the chores.
‘If you’re going to do a job do it properly, it’s much easier for everybody else,’ he told hosts Ant and Dec.
‘I think the thing is resolving problems rather than letting them fester.
‘Shane was really ill sometimes and we would go through different journeys each day, we’d have highs, lows and I think everybody helped everybody. There’s no negativity.’
So, that’s that then.
This Morning continues daily, at 10am, on ITV.
