A comical BBC News error saw reporter Lukwesa Burak discover she was still live on air after believing her show had ended.
And, like anyone else after a long day’s work, Lukwesa had her ‘big stretch’ before being told she was still on air.
‘This is BBC News,’ she concluded her broadcast, and the BBC News title credits began to roll.
But the camera was back on Lukwesa moments after the clip cut to a scene involving bagpipes, and she had no idea.
‘Okay!’ She exhaled, stretching her arms skyward, before her jaw fell and she returned her gaze to the ground with a solemn face.
She quickly covered up the incident by gazing at the desk in front of her, but the film has made its way across social media, leaving viewers quite entertained.
‘Quite the surreal minute on the BBC News Channel just now,’ TV critic Scott Bryan wrote.
Trying to recover from the agony of thousands of people seeing the reporter stare down at the papers on her desk, Lukwesa went on: ‘One of our top stories here on the programme…’
The setting, however, remained as unpleasant as ever.
‘When you think you’ve ended the Zoom call but haven’t,’ one person joked.
Another Tweeted: ‘We’ve all NEARLY done that…’
Several others were left sharing laughing emojis at the ‘big stretch’, while someone else praised: ‘This BBC presenter handling the awkward camera situation like a professional.’
