Judge Rinder has been an ITV favourite since the show started in 2014.
The daytime courtroom programme has run for eight seasons, with Robert Rinder presiding over dramatic real-life court cases in the studio.
The famous judge is back on our screens on January 25, and there’s sure to be even more explosive rulings and memorable guests.
Whether he’s presiding over cases of dodgy loans or bad business deals, he’s famed for his sharp tongue and witty one-liners.
While Robert Rinder isn’t a real judge, he is a criminal barrister who worked on high-profile cases of bribery and fraud before his career in TV.
He presides over civil disputes on the show, with help from courtroom bailiff Michelle Hussain.
But how much does Robert Rinder get paid for being on the programme?
How much does Judge Rinder get paid?
The 42 year old barrister is estimated to be worth around $4 million dollars, or £2.93 million pounds, according to celebnetworths.com.
This might sound like a lot, but his US equivalent, Judge Judy, has a net worth of £440 million – although her show has been on air since 1996.
He swapped his gavel and robes for dancing shoes in 2016, coming fifth on Strictly Come Dancing with his partner Oksana Platero.
Judge Rinder’s appearance on Strictly will have contributed to his net worth – as every star who appears on the show reportedly receives £40,000 if they make it past the first four weeks.
The legal expert’s Strictly appearance wasn’t the first time he’d taken to the stage. He studied at the National Theatre after school, alongside stars like Matt Lucas and David Walliams.
However, he changed his career plans and enrolled at Manchester University instead – making another famous friend in classmate Benedict Cumberbatch.
The pair remain close today, with the Sherlock star officiating Judge Rinder’s civil partnership in 2013. Judge Rinder was also one of Benedict Cumberbatch’s best men at his wedding to theatre director Sophie Hunter in 2015.
How much do Judge Rinder’s guests get paid?
As the cases are real on Judge Rinder, the guests don’t get paid to appear on the show. If guests do get a payout though, it’s paid by the production company, not the loser of the case.
Judge Rinder is known for his no-nonsense attitude, and can award up to £5,000 to the ‘winners’ of arbitration cases.
In 2017, guests Sam Horner, 35, and Paul Brewster, 34 admitted to inventing a row to get a payout on the show.
In a Facebook Live video shared by The Sun, Sam Horner said he ‘planned it from the get go,’ but only because his original legal claim was deemed unsuitable for the programme.
‘I didn’t tell them I’d made it up,’ he can be seen saying in the video, but claims it wasn’t fraud as the money was paid ‘by way of a gameshow prize’ rather than as an actual legal payment.
At the time, ITV said the pair could face fraud charges for ‘conning’ the production company out of £5,000, although it’s not known if the police ever actually got involved.
What time is Judge Rinder on?
Judge Rinder isn’t on TV at the moment, but the new series will begin on ITV on January 25, at 2pm.
And if you miss an episode, they will be available for catch up on ITV Player soon after.
