Homophobic Russian MP Vitaly Milonov is presenting a reality show where contestants have to guess which person is gay in order to win a cash prize.

I’m Not Gay is a series that sees eight men move into a country house together. At the end of each episode, they vote to eliminate a contestant they suspect of being gay.

If they correctly guess, then they share two million rubles (£21,000), but if the homosexual man dodges detection he wins the prize.

The Times reports that in the first episode, which has been shared on YouTube, Milonov tells the contestants: ‘I hope that you will quickly figure out the gay.’

After the group failed to identify the LGBT+ member, he told them: ‘You killed an innocent person.’

Responses to the show have been mixed, with many intrigued by the series in the comments on YouTube. Twitter, however, is a different story.

‘WHAT IN THE ACTUAL F*CK?’ one slammed, while another penned: ‘This is sick.’

Milonov is known for making inflammatory remarks, particularly about queer people.

In the BBC documentary Reggie Yates’ Extreme, Russia – Gay and Under Attack, when asked if he thought homosexuals were dangerous, he responded by saying: ‘A piece of sh*t is not dangerous, but it’s quite unpleasant to see on the streets.

‘Homosexuality is disgusting. Homophobia is beautiful and natural.’

Previously, in 2014, Milonov spoke out about Apple CEO Tim Cook’s homosexuality and said on the FlashNord website: ‘What could he bring us? The Ebola virus, AIDS, gonorrhoea? They all have unseemly ties over there.’

Homosexuality has been legal in Russia since 1993, however, LGBT+ people face legal and social challenges still to this day.

Russia provides no anti-discrimination protections for LGBT+ people, nor does it prohibit hate crimes based on sexual orientation and gender identity
