Holly Willoughby is apparently on the lookout for James Martin after he was accused of ‘bullying’ on one of his TV appearances.
After a tape of his foul-mouthed rage against Saturday Morning producers was leaked, the Dancing On Ice host, 42, reached out to the TV chef.
‘Holly’s been supporting James Martin ever since the bullying allegations came to light,’ a source said.
It comes after Holly encountered issues when This Morning was rocked by former stars such as Dr Ranj Singh, who accused the programme of having a ‘toxic’ atmosphere, and ex-presenter Phillip Schofield, who departed after confessing to lying about an affair with a runner.
The source continued to The Sun: ‘He was there for her when everything was kicking off at ITV and now she’s returning the favour.
‘They’re good friends and are keeping in touch – despite both being off-screen on This Morning over summer.’
James, 51, became engaged in the incident last month after being accused of harassing and threatening people while filming an ITV show.
He later apologised for ‘upsetting or causing offence,’ citing personal life pressures such as a shock cancer diagnosis, the death of his last surviving grandparent, and a home burglary as contributing to his’very emotional state’ when his home ‘flooded’ while filming due to a blocked drain.
‘I can only say I am human and following a build-up of personal life pressure, I admit I overreacted regarding the damage to my home,’ he said.
On July 31, James made his first public appearance since the allegations surfaced at a countryside event called The Game Fair, where he designed a unique cuisine for an area called The Enclosure.
According to reports, fans and fairgoers thought he was ‘amazing’ and ‘fantastic,’ as he exchanged ‘banter’ with guests while serving out fish and chips.
Holly, meantime, is now on vacation in Portugal with her family and will return to This Morning in September following her summer break.
