Holly Willoughby had to chat to Ruth Langsford on This Morning only hours after Eamonn Holmes called her a “big mouth.”
The 42-year-old presenter, who addressed Phillip Schofield‘s leave and infidelity when she returned to the ITV show’s couch with Josie Gibson on Monday morning, appeared on television after Ruth’s husband Eamonn attacked her earlier in the day on GB News.
He’s been one of Schofield’s harshest critics, and he unleashed another scathing assault on both Schofield and former co-star Holly before her TV return.
‘You think she’s got a big tongue,’ he said. She’s not going to use it today.’
Later that morning, Holly was forced to share the screen with his wife Ruth as they did the normal connection previewing what was coming up on today’s Loose Women.
‘It is time now to find out what Loose Women are talking about today, hi there Ruth,’ she began with a smile on her face at the end of an interview with singer Adam Lambert.
Ruth replied: ‘Hiya, we love Adam Lambert too! Mwah, mwah, mwah to him! Coming up on Loose Women, we’ll be exposing the big social media exam scam that could be affecting your children or your grandchildren. Also, here’s a question – is it ever okay to take off your wedding ring during a row?
She also introduced guests Anton Du Beke and Leona Lewis, adding: ‘Great guests, great show – as always! See you at 12.30!’
Holly responded: ‘We’ll see you then, thank you very much!’
Also on GB News earlier in the day, Eamonn urged ‘anyone watching today who has kissed Phillip Schofield, let us know’.
‘He said in his 40-odd years of broadcasting that he’s made one mistake, he had one kiss that he shouldn’t have had,’ he said. ‘I put it to anyone watching today that if you have kissed Phillip Schofield let us know. Let us see if that figure of one grows to the figure that I believe it is probably at.’
He added: ‘We’re not supposed to criticise him in case he harms himself but he still thinks he can go on and say lies, lies, lies. He’s admitted he is a liar.
‘You should see the emails, the texts and the messages I’ve been sent over the past week. I think he’s getting off very very lucky. Like everybody else he lied to me, I was happy to stand by him until I found out that he was lying… This isn’t about him being gay, not in the slightest.’
Holly didn’t respond to Eamonn’s words at all, but she seemed upset when she appeared on This Morning for the first time since her former co-host’s departure.
She stated that Schofield had’shaken, worried, and let down’ her before hugging her co-host Josie and thanked everyone for their support.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV1.
