Holly Willoughby appears to make conscious effort to correct mistake after explosive Jodie Marsh row

Holly Willoughby appears to have attempted to rehabilitate herself following the historic ‘lipstick-gate’ controversy.

Former beauty model Jodie Marsh, 44, appeared on This Morning in 2016 to discuss her choice to freeze her eggs.

While she went on to criticise Holly, 42, and former co-host Phillip Schofield, 61, for the line of inquiry, both Jodie and the audience were outraged that the hosts forgot to inform their guest that she had lipstick on her teeth.

Soon after, Jodie went after Holly, claiming that there is a “special place in hell for a woman who does not inform another woman when she has lipstick on her teeth.”

So, when the same situation arose again on Wednesday’s programme, Holly decided to intervene after spotting the show’s Soap Expert Sharon Marshall had lipstick on her teeth.

While Sharon, 51, was going through the week’s soap news, Holly swiftly rushed in to inform her about the stain before she proceeded.

‘You’ve got a tiny little bit of lipstick on your teeth,’ she said, before Sharon quickly rubbed her teeth trying to rub it off.

Jodie stated on social media a month after her interview seven years ago that she wishes she’d been warned.

‘When you’ve just done an interview on live TV and you’ve had lipstick on your teeth and the interviewer only tells you when the interview is finished and you’re going off air,’ she posted on Instagram.

Soon after, Holly defended herself, releasing a Boomerang video of herself informing Jodie about the make-up gaffe while seated on the This Morning sofa – with the tag ‘#awkward’.

While it didn’t establish she told Jodie about the lipstick before going on camera, it did show she tried at some time.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
