How I Met Your Father was cancelled after only two seasons, and star Hilary Duff has responded to the backlash.
The series, which debuted barely a year ago, has been cancelled after only 30 episodes.
This implies that fans will likely never find out who Hilary’s character, Sophie, had a child with, which is tragic!
The news was shared on Instagram by Variety, and one person who clearly isn’t a fan of the sitcom took to the comments section.
They wrote: ‘Tried to watch it… it was so cringe… who thought this would ever be a good idea? Everything was done in the original, they covered it all…’
Hilary, 35, was offended by the criticism and chose to reply by using their following count as an insult (which feels a little Black Mirror-esque).
‘You have 63 followers,’ Hilary, who has 26.5 million Instagram followers, wrote.
Although How I Met Your Mother was a distinct narrative from How I Met Your Mother, which aired from 2005 to 2014, the structure was identical. Future Sophie and Kim Cattrall’s narrative recounted the facts that lead to parenthood.
Ted Mosby, played by Josh Radnor in the original series, told his children, and Bob Saget provided the voice for elder Ted throughout the narration.
‘In the near future, Sophie is telling her son the story of how she met his father: a story that catapults us back to the present where Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are in the midst of figuring out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and limitless options,’ the synopsis reads.

‘When I first got the call about the role, I was like, “What’s the title? No, no, no, no!” Way too intimidating. Way too much pressure because HIMYM was so dialled-in, so beloved and the cast was amazing,’ she recalled.
‘But I was talking to the producers and they said they were not trying to re-enact anything and it really is a brilliant way to tell a story.’
How I Met Your Father series one and two are available to stream on Disney Plus.
