Celebrity MasterChef is back for another season, and Gregg Wallace is immediately taken aback by one of the stars’ confessions.
From Dani Dyer of Love Island to Max George of The Wanted, 20 stars of the film and stage will compete over six weeks to be named winner of the BBC One cookery competition.
During the premiere of Inbetweeners on Wednesday, James Buckley was busy preparing a beautiful rice and prawn meal.
Judge Gregg, 58, inquired about Jay Cartwright’s favourite cuisine.
‘I don’t really like anything green,’ the 35-year-old replied.
Gregg later asked James if he had ever cooked rice, and James’ candid response shocked the broadcaster.
‘No,’ he quipped.
Staring at him in disbelief, Gregg replied: ‘Oh come on!’
‘I know it’s really bad, that’s one of the reasons I wanted to come on the show out of shame almost. You can get it in a bag can’t you and put it in a bag,’ said James.
Following James’ revelation, Gregg laughed loudly and glanced down in surprise.
He wasn’t alone in this.
‘5 mins into Masterchef and i want James Buckley to win without a pot or pan used…,’ one fan tweeted.
‘James is a man after my own heart. I don’t eat anything green either, and just put up with the barracking,’ another added.
When asked about his wife Clair Buckley, the actor revealed that he never pays attention to what she cooks in the kitchen.

Other guests on tonight’s broadcast were comedian Marcus Brigstocke, TV personality Dani, presenter Richie Anderson, and Gogglebox actress Mica Ven.
Mica informed us ahead of her big moment that she first assumed the call-up to show off her dishes was a “joke.”
‘It was just strange to me, to be honest,’ the celebrity revealed. I assumed it was a prank at first. What exactly am I doing on MasterChef?
‘So once I was pinched and it actually hurt, it just all sank in that I’m in the kitchen. I’m about to be judged.
‘Reality hit, I stepped into the kitchen and was like, “Oh my gosh, you!”
‘I’m thinking I’m just a regular, me, but when [the other contestants] saw me, they knew who I was.
‘You are literally blind. You don’t know who you are walking in there and going to see.’
Celebrity MasterChef returns tomorrow at 8pm on BBC One.
