Good Morning Britain’s Dr Hilary Jones has triggered Ofcom complaints once again, this time after hitting out at an ICU doctor for ‘putting patients at risk’ by not having the Covid vaccine.

During an episode that aired on ITV last week, the television doctor clashed with consultant anesthetist Dr Steve James, who has refused to get jabbed because ‘the science isn’t strong enough’.

Dr Hilary fired back stressing that the science is ‘plenty strong enough’ and that it is his ‘ethical duty’ to get vaccinated.

‘The basic point that I’d like to make is the vast majority of doctors and scientists think the science is plenty strong enough to support vaccination and mandatory vaccination for NHS staff in contact with patients,’ he began.

‘By his own admission, he’s got antibodies so at some point, he’s been in contact with coronavirus and has been capable of transmitting coronavirus to the sickest patients in society in intensive and critical care.’

Dr Hilary continued: ‘Having not been vaccinated, he is likely to have a higher viral load when he’s been infectious and to carry that virus for longer and all the science shows that transmission in an unvaccinated person is likely to carry on for longer than it would in a vaccinated person.

‘He talks about the risk to himself, there is an ethical duty for doctors under the GMC regulations in communicable diseases to immunise yourself to protect the risk to your patients and clearly that isn’t happening here.’

The television watchdog has reported 73 complaints in relation to Dr Hilary’s comments.

At the time, viewers blasted Dr Hialry on social media with one writing: ‘Who is Dr Hillary to criticise a consultant anesthetist who has declined a particular vaccine.

‘This doctor has no doubt saved many lives while Dr Hilary has been paid rather well to pontificate on Covid and avoid uncomfortable truths such as vaccine-related deaths.’

Another added: ‘Dr James is completely correct to not have the vaccine, it’s personal choice! Bet he’s scared now though he’s had a telling off from Dr Hilary.’

This isn’t the first time in recent weeks that the television doctor has been subjected to Ofcom complaints.

Last month, Lorraine was hit with over 3000 complaints following Dr Hilary’s comments about the number of unvaccinated people in hospital.

Dr Hilary implored unvaccinated people to get jabbed as he claimed 90% of people currently in hospital have yet to have their vaccine.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
