Gogglebox icons Mary and Marina received their coronavirus jabs together, after months of shielding in the same sheltered flats in Bristol.
The comical duo, who are both in their 90s, were pictured receiving their first dose of the vaccine, masked up but appearing to be smiling as they posed for a photograph of the monumental moment.
In the photo, a vaccinator is administering Mary’s jab while Marina sits beside her.
The pair have been noticeably absent from Gogglebox since the pandemic struck last year because Channel 4 bosses felt it was ‘too risky’ to include them in filming.
Naturally, fans on Twitter were thrilled to see their favourites get the vaccine.
‘Great news hopefully you will back on goggle box soon love their banter,’ (sic.) wrote one viewer. Another thanked the duo for ‘keeping us smiling’, while a third tweeted: ‘Seeing this has really warmed my heart. Sending tons of love to these 2 beauties xx.’
Gogglebox returns in February – fingers crossed Mary and Marina will be back on screens in no time at all.
On the other end of the spectrum, fellow Goggleboxer Pete Sandiford stressed on the programme he will not be receiving the Covid vaccine.
His sister Sophie said back in November before the first vaccines were rolled out: ’50 per cent of me is very excited, the other 50 is thinking, at some point, I’m gonna have to have [an] injection here.’
Pete, however, went further, insisting: ‘I’m not having it, I don’t like injections.’
The government has now said it hopes all over-18s will be offered the vaccine by September. As it stands more than 3 million vaccines have been administered to the over 80s and frontline key workers in the NHS.
All those over 70 are expected to be offered the vaccine this week.
