‘Godzilla’ spider horrifies on live news report in Australia as everyone makes same joke

Jingles about fearsome tarantulas and skin-prickling snakes lurking in Australia’s dark corners are all too common.

However, a live news story displaying a spider that resembled a Godzilla monster did little to prevent the same old jokes from repeating again.

During a Today broadcast, the camera provided viewers a glimpse of Brisbane in the early morning, around 7.29 a.m.

The camera captured a single fly in a web as the presenter stated, ‘Good morning Brisbane, a foggy start for you, and it seems like… ooh!’

At this time, a massive spider crept across the lens, straight for its caught victim.

‘A pretty decent chance of spiders too!’ the presenter continued, as the arachnid used its legs to grab the insect and pull it into its mouth.

People in the TV studio were heard shouting in disbelief, with one saying, ‘Oh my god, did that really just happen?!’

Another person advised that they use a ‘David Attenborough voice’ because they had just observed a predator in the wild.

After the programme uploaded the film on Facebook, people replied with a combination of fear and laughter, with some making nearly identical comments about animal problems in Australia.

‘Life in Australia,’ wrote a Facebook user called Gaye, while Luana added: ‘Only in Australia .’

‘That will cool the number of tourists to Australia! ,’ Cynthia predicted.

Others laughed about how the spider appeared to be towering above the city, with the viewpoint resembling a Godzilla-like beast.

‘Straight out of Godzilla movies,’ said Kimberly, as Michael proclaimed: ‘I, For One, Welcome Our New Insect Overlords.’

There were also a couple of comical puns thrown out there, as one person stated: ‘And we are watching this on ….. the Web!’

Referring to the spider gobbling up the fly, Maryanne quipped: ‘Talk about breakfast TV.’
