George Clooney has signed on to produce a new Buck Rogers TV series, it has been claimed.
There is a limited series in the works for the futuristic character, with Brian K. Vaughn penning the show.
According to Hollywood Reporter, bosses are hoping that if the series is a success, they can branch out into films and maybe even an anime creation.
The publication states the Ocean’s Eleven actor has reportedly jumped on board as executive producer – alongside Smokehouse Pictures partner Grant Heslov.
Insiders stated that the Oscar winner could star in the series, but there currently isn’t an acting deal in place for him.
As well as Smokehouse Pictures, Angry Films’ Don Murphy and Susan Montford will also be producing.
Buck Rogers followed a man who was trapped in a coal mine, and somehow woke up 500 years in the future.
Things took another turn when he was enlisted to fight a war in his former homeland.
Fans got their first glimpse of the character in Philip Francis Nowlan’s 1928 novel, Armageddon 2419 A.D.
Buck was clearly popular as he was given his own comic strip the following year, which sparked a radio show and a small-screen film, debuting in 1979 – Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.
Gil Gerard took on the starring role, and was joined by Mel Blanc, Tim O’Connor and Eric Gray.
