Grant Coulson of Geordie Shore has opened up about his growing connection with a man after ‘hiding his true self.’
The 31-year-old claimed to have slept with over 30 women while appearing on MTV and other reality shows, and that he had an affair with Chloe Ferry to conceal his sexuality.
Grant described himself as ‘finally happy’ after coming out as homosexual and meeting boyfriend Scott, whom he hopes to marry one day.
He explained: ‘I think now I just feel more comfortable with who I am. For years I hid the real me and now I am finally happy, I feel like everyone needs to know the real me. I feel like I have been hiding myself for such a long period of time, it just a bit of a weight lifted off my shoulders.
‘I think I have known for years but more people are more open to it now. It’s not the 1800s, no one’s really bothered anymore.’
Grant said he feared revealing his sexuality on Geordie Shore because he felt it ‘would have ruined the opportunity’ as it was cast with ‘alpha male’ heterosexual men.
He continued to The Sun: ‘And that’s the kind of people they wanted on the show at the time, yeah. So I had to go along with that, it wasn’t who I was but for so long I had to pretend to be that kind of thing.
Grant said he was hospitalised, fought with anxiety and avoided socialising for months because he was ‘lying’ and ‘becoming a person I’m not’ before coming out.
He is now happily married to Scott, whom he regards as “the one,” and they have a puppy named Hugo.
‘He just brings out the best in me and I bring out the best in him,’ he added about Scott.
Grant, who debuted on Geordie Shore in 2014 before returning in 2018, previously said on This Morning that he was “too famous to work.”
However, his statements were not well received by the broader public, with someone afterwards tipping decaying fish guts on his beautiful new Mercedes.
