The Game of Thrones Twitter account has stirred more drama about the show’s controversial ending.

In a bid to remember one of the most popular characters, the Game of Thrones Twitter account recently shared a video to ‘Remember Cersei Lannister’s journey through the Seven Kingdoms’. But fans were not happy.

In the penultimate episode of season eight, Cersei and her brother and lover Jaime Lannister were crushed by falling bricks in the crumbling Red Keep during the dragon queen’s siege. Tyrion Lannister eventually found their bodies amidst the debris, which confirmed their deaths.

Fans flooded to the Twitter post, shared on April 19, to express their disappointment.

‘Always remember – one of the most iconic villains in TV history was killed by some rocks,’ one person commented.

‘I’m someone who doesn’t think everything about season 8 was awful. But Cersei dying like that was the worst part by far,’ a different person wrote.

Another person even suggested that the showrunners remake the last series and give her ‘the death she deserved.’

Previously speaking to The Guardian, Lena Headey revealed she wasn’t a fan of how her character died either.

The British actress, who starred as the villainous queen for eight series, said she was hoping for more.

When asked about what she’d bring up at a drunken sit-down with showrunners, she said: ‘I will say I wanted a better death.

‘Obviously you dream of your death. You could go in any way on that show. So I was kind of gutted. But I just think they couldn’t have pleased everyone.

‘No matter what they did, I think there was going to be some big comedown from the climb.’

Game of Thrones is available to watch on Sky Atlantic and Now.
