She’s known as one of the main stars of First Dates, but Cici Coleman has revealed she was ‘one step away from being homeless’ before landing the Channel 4 series.

The waitress and television star shared candid details with her followers during a Q&A on Instagram, and said she had ‘no idea what she wanted to do’ when she was younger.

Cici, who is now 35, was 28 when she landed a role on the programme back in 2015.

After calling on her followers to ‘ask her anything’, one of her fans asked: ‘Is it a bad thing that I don’t know what I want to do or who I am at 25?’

Cici reassured them by saying: ‘Mate. At 25 I was one step away from being homeless. I had zero idea what I wanted to do. But I had hope.’

She added: ‘Take the pressure off having the answers. You have your whole life ahead of you to figure out who you are. That doesn’t come overnight. It’s a continuous lesson.

‘Each moment is a new experience where we get to learn something about ourselves. Try out different jobs, make more mistakes, figure out through those mistakes (lessons) what you do and don’t like.

‘And don’t forget to have fun on the journey. Also imagine how boring life would be if you had it all figured out. There wouldn’t be any room for improvement. My mistakes have been my greatest teachers.’

Cici became a regular part of the show back in 2015, and the programme has become one of the most popular reality series in the UK since then.

Recently, First Dates viewers were left confused after Fred Sirieix appeared to have a chinwag with two of the contestants in the ladies’ toilet.

First Dates is available to stream on All4.
