Ferne McCann sobs on This Morning as she admits calling ex’s acid attack victim ugly ‘wasn’t finest hour’

Ferne McCann cried as she recalled the leaking of a private voice message in which she described a lady hit with acid by her ex-boyfriend ‘ugly’.

The 32-year-old former Only Way Is Essex star has a five-year-old daughter with Arthur Collins, who is serving a 20-year jail sentence for hurling acid at a nightclub and injuring many people in 2017.

She is now expecting her second child with fiancé Lorri Haines, whom she married in July 2022.

A voice message from McCann was released in November of last year, in which she could be heard calling one of her ex’s victims “an ugly f*****g c**t.”

McCann then apologised to victim Sophie Hall but argued it was taken out of context, later stating she was ‘frustrated’ she couldn’t convey the complete facts since it was under police investigation.

Now, the reality star, whose ITV programme First Time Mom returns on Wednesday, admits that ridiculing an acid attack victim was not her “finest moment,” but she insists that the truth will finally come out.

McCann appeared on This Morning with Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, where a preview from the new episode showed McCann weeping and being comforted by Towie mate James ‘Arg’ Argent.

A tearful McCann claimed in the footage, shot after the repercussions from the leaked voice notes, that the school run provided “a purpose to get up” in the morning, and that being a parent was her “only saviour.”

Later in the studio, McCann shed another cry and wiped her eyes with a tissue before acknowledging that the horrifying voice note ‘wasn’t my finest hour.’

‘It definitely was a very difficult time in my life when those voicenotes were leaked,’ she said. ‘I need to publicly apologise again to those affected. The words I used were unpleasant and I have reached out privately to those people.’

She went on: ‘I would love to sit here and share exactly what went on but it’s now part of a criminal investigation so I can’t. But these voice notes were from a time when I was in a very vulnerable situation and it was a very difficult situation. It was five or six years ago. I’ve since then done a lot of work on myself, I’ve been in therapy for six years. I am a different person.’

McCann acknowledged that not being able to discuss what occurred would be ‘frustrating’ for many, but said, ‘One day I will get the chance to be 100% transparent,’ maintaining that her story ‘will help a lot of women.’

McCann revealed she contacted police when the voice notes were released, with the damaging tape coming from an anonymous Instagram account called Lady Whistledown, after Bridgerton‘s faceless gossip.

On the released tape, a speaker claiming to be Ferne appears to refer to Hall competing in a beauty pageant while wearing an outfit made of newspaper cuttings about the attack.

‘I don’t know whether to laugh or cry,’ the audio goes.

‘The silly b**** has made a dress, a papier-mâché dress out of the cuttings from the event. She will probably win it, I’m not going to lie.

‘Only because the awards she entered are probably loving all this free press. So they will probably fix it, she will win. She is one ugly f**king c**t.’
