Fern Britton has enraged fans by allegedly disparaging former This Morning co-star Phillip Schofield.
The TV hosts collaborated on the ITV morning show from 2002 to 2009, when Fern, 65, chose to leave the show.
In the years following Fern said she ‘walked away and quit’ after being ‘handled very horribly’, while her former co-presenter, 61, acknowledged in his 2020 biography that when she announced her resignation he was ‘heartbroken’ and disclosed their friendship had also ‘gone sour’.
Fern appears to have chimed in on Phillip’s alleged ‘fallout’ with current co-host Holly Willoughby.
Fern remarked on social media on Monday night that she had been meeting up with Eamonn Holmes, who hosted This Morning on Fridays for 15 years until departing in 2021.
‘Unexpected calls from old mates are so lovely. Just had the loveliest catch up with Eamonn Holmes,’ she posted on Twitter.
‘I think we have known each other since the 80’s when we were babies 😂 Shooting the breeze.’
People couldn’t help but comment on her post, suggesting their conversation must have involved a chat about their former co-host.
‘Did you have a nice chat? Bet you’re both cackling over Phillip,’ one person wrote.
Another added: ‘Wow I bet that was an interesting call! Would love to have been a fly on the wall.’
Her statement came after Eamonn, 63, slammed Holly and Phil earlier in the day, suggesting the couple lacked “chemistry.”
Eamonn did not hold back during his appearance on GB News’ breakfast show.
‘I think there should’ve been a special award for Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby for best actors,’ he said.
‘The public surely have sussed that there’s no chemistry, that there’s a broken fit between the two of them.’
He added that, in his opinion, This Morning ‘does not depend on who presents it’.
‘It’s an institution. It will carry on no matter who presents it, and anybody can check the viewing figures. There’s no difference between whether they present it or anyone else,’ he added.
In a statement shared last week, Phillip described Holly as his ‘rock’.
‘As I have said before, Holly is my rock,’ he stressed. ‘We’re the best of friends — as always, she is an incredible support on screen, behind the scenes and on the phone.’
He continued to The Sun: ‘Holly has always been there for me, through thick and thin. And I’ve been there for her.
‘The last few weeks haven’t been easy for either of us.’
Holly joined This Morning after Fern quit the show.
