Love Island viewers lambasted the programme for bringing another ‘nepo baby’ to their group during Casa Amour week, when a new girl revealed her famous father’s name.
Amber Wise, 19, drew Tyrique Hyde, 24, aside for a conversation on Monday night’s programme and spilled the beans about her well-known family.
The student told her prospective boyfriend, while sitting in the yard of the main villa, that she was searching for a companion who loves sports because she was raised by ex-Chelsea footballer Dennis Wise.
Despite Tyrique’s happy reaction, the announcement split people online, who likened her to last year’s runner-up Gemma Owen – daughter of former Liverpool footballer Michael Owen.
Twitter was buzzing with reactions to the new episode, with some blasting the programme for bringing on yet another celebrity offspring.
One penned: ‘ANOTHER nepo baby that’s too young to be on the show? did we not learn from last time? [sic].’
Another user said: ‘WHAT IS IT WITH THESE FOOTBALLERS LETTING THEIR 19 YEARS OLD GO ON THIS SHOW [sic].’
‘Amber is not name dropping enough about her dad being dennis wise i’d be shouting it from the rooftops when i’m in a villa full of footballers [sic],’ a viewer joked after learning where Amber’s surname came from.
A separate account compared the new entry to her 2022 counterpart Gemma when they said: ‘Amber is the daughter of ex footballer Dennis Wise, she’s from the same era as Gemma Owen ffs [sic].’
Several celebrity parents have appeared on the show this season as their children try to find love on the ITV 2 dating show.
Dani Dyer, the daughter of soap icon Danny Dyer, participated on the popular show and won in 2018 with her then-partner Jack Fincham.
Tommy Fury revealed he was Tyson Fury’s brother when pursuing his fiancée Molly-Mae Hague the next year in 2019.
Molly Marsh joins the cast of this series as the daughter of a soap star.
A different type of name dropping was going on elsewhere during a talk between newbie Abi Moores, 25, and Mitchel Taylor, 26.
The budding star revealed that she grew up riding horses with Prince Harry and William as she ‘used to live in Sandhurst, where the Royal Military Academy is’.
Love Island continues tomorrow night at 9pm on ITV2 and ITVX.
