The Love Island villa welcomed newcomer Charlotte Sumner, and the cast’s reaction to her age was perplexing.
The majority of the islanders are in their early twenties, with Molly Marsh, 21, being the youngest. Then yesterday, Charlotte, a 30-year-old dental nurse from Bournemouth, arrived, and the group is acting as if they’ve never encountered someone over the age of 20 who doesn’t require a walking stick.
Charlotte was on a date with Tryique Hyde, 24, when she revealed her age to him.
‘You don’t look 30 though. You’ve got nice teeth you know,’ he said in a baffling response.
He later added: ‘You look good though!’

Some of the Love Island Twitter community thought she’d selected the wrong show, and should have instead opted for a different programme. Love Is Blind and Married at First Sight were both suggested as alternative options.

Laura, who was 29 when she attended Love Island, has already spoken about the ageism she encountered on the programme and thereafter.
‘I just hadn’t experienced ageism before but on the island, it became very apparent that I was the older girl,’ the now 34-year-old told The Sun.
‘When I learned that my dad had to get my birth certificate to show I wasn’t lying about my age, it was horrible.
‘After the show people would compare me with the other girls and they would definitely get jobs over me because they were younger.’
Let’s hope attitudes change soon!
