Desperate Housewives, according to Eva Longoria, would not be created today owing of the’shocking’ material.
From 2004 until 2012, the 48-year-old actress portrayed pampered housewife Gabrielle Solis and was involved in numerous major dramas. This includes her affair with the adolescent ‘hot gardener’ John Rowland (Jesse Metcalfe), and when she dumped her political husband Victor Lang (John Slattery) into the ocean, he nonchalantly survived the shock and pursues her.
It was a great ride!
Teri Hatcher (Susan Mayer), Felicity Huffman (Lynette Scavo), and Marcia Cross (Bree van de Kamp) made up the remainder of the group, who all resided on the imaginary Wisteria Lane and got into equal levels of mischief.
Despite the success of the series, Eva believes it will be ‘cancelled’ in 2023.
‘I don’t know if we could do the show today. I think we’d get cancelled,’ she stated.
‘I mean, not cancelled on TV but like cancelled in culture because it was so groundbreaking and we said and did so many things that were shocking at the time,’ she explained to Entertainment Tonight.
While Eva mentions potential controversy and says she doesn’t know what the women are doing today, she would still be open to producing a revival. That’s our girl!
During a recent interview on ITV’s Lorraine, Eva said: ‘I’d be the first one to sign up.’ She added with a laugh: ‘I’d probably be the only one.’
‘I always tell Marc [Cherry, the show creator]: “So, you wouldn’t do a reboot?” He just thinks we have fully mined those characters. He doesn’t know what else there is to say about those characters.’
We think they should bring it back and include an appearance by Eva’s bestie Victoria Beckham – that would be memorable.
Desperate Housewives is available to stream on Disney Plus.
