According to Eamonn Holmes, instructors should not listen to transgender youngsters in school.
The GB News presenter, 63, made the bombshell allegation during a debate about children’s commissioner Dame Rachel de Souza’s advice that teachers needed more guidance on trans problems in schools on Thursday’s show.
Guest Emma Burnell opened her conversation with Eamonn and his co-host Isabel Webster by saying, ‘And [the guidance] has been postponed again! It was meant to be released before the summer semester, but it didn’t. It was then expected to be released last week, but it didn’t.
‘And I think the problem teachers have is they just need to know what they can and can’t do, what they should and shouldn’t do, and how to behave according to guidance.
‘Then, if parents come to them and say they’d rather you didn’t behave like this, they can then go back and say, “This is what the guidance is!”‘
Sharing his thoughts on the issue, former This Morning host Eamonn said: ‘Is a lot of this not just overindulgence of little people who shouldn’t really be listened to?
‘I’m just trying to say, all our time in school, we spend 14 years in school, I never once came across anybody who had a transgender issue and now everybody has a transgender issue.’
He later added: ‘You see, I think there’s certain things… I totally understand the turmoil and torment that a lot of people will go through with this.
‘But genuinely, if I was a teacher and some kid came to me and said, “I’m identifying as a bunny rabbit or a cat or whatever”, I think I would just say the following word, “Detention!” That would be it.’
Emma highlighted ‘the weird stories about cats’ as those of 14-year-old’s ‘pushing the boundaries’, before saying: ‘We need to separate out the, “I’m a bunny rabbit. I’m a cat”, from people – it does exist, it’s a very small percentage of people who are identifying as actually trans but they do exist.’
Eamonn’s comments came after his fellow GB News presenter Michelle Dewberry defended herself against backlash after she was accused of ‘mocking’ youngsters who ‘identify as cats’.
During her June show, the presenter wore cat ears with painted on whiskers in response to claims that youngsters in schools around the country are identifying as animals such as horses, cats, and dinosaurs.
She began: ‘Meow, I’ve learnt something new today, everybody. It is perfectly acceptable to identify as a cat. You what?
‘Don’t you dare mock it by the way because I’ve decided that is now what I am, Meowchelle, to you.
‘But if you do indeed mock it be careful because I wouldn’t be surprised if it could be considered a hate crime. Self-identity, where do we draw the line?’
She continued by saying it was ‘very alarming’, joking that she’s ‘been busy licking milk from saucers’.
Her comments sparked backlash online, with one person writing: ‘Whatever side of the gender debate you sit, openly mocking a child is low. Even for you. Scum.’
I’ve had people messaging me saying I’m cruel and/or bullying to mock this child.
No. Cruelness is indulging this ridiculousness and prioritising feelings/fiction over actual reality.
The more people who stand up to nonsense, the better.

Replying to someone’s comment which read ‘Quite sad for a grown woman to be mocking a child,’ Michelle insisted: ‘I’m doing the child a favour. The sooner they realise it’s nonsense, can never be reality and instead get on with being a child – the happier and healthier they will be. Adults shouldn’t indulge this.’
Against the claim she was ‘scum’, Michelle also wrote: ‘See what I mean? Apparently, I’m “scum” for mocking the fact that a child is being indulged in believing it’s a cat. Sorry but this ideology deserves to be mocked.
‘It is absurd and will lead children down a route of self-harm. This world has gone mad. Stand up against it.’
She continued: ‘I’ve had people messaging me saying I’m cruel and/or bullying to mock this child. No. Cruelness is indulging this ridiculousness and prioritising feelings/fiction over actual reality. The more people who stand up to nonsense, the better.’
