Following back surgery, Eamonn Holmes is “on track” to return to his presenting role on GB News.
The newsreader took time off from his regular breakfast stint with Isabel Webster in September 2022 to recover from a medical operation.
After being upfront with his social media followers about his ongoing health difficulties, he decided to get surgery in the hopes that it will alleviate his persistent agony once and for all.
The 63-year-old previously said he wanted to ‘get back to the man I used to be’, adding: ‘I am hoping that this will be a Back to the Future procedure and that I go back to the way I was 18 months ago.’
On New Year’s Eve, Eamonn revealed he’d paid a visit to the GB News studio and even sat in his old seat in preparation for his return.
‘Visited my GB News studio today to see if they could handle my mobility issues and me to see if they had any,’ he shared on Twitter.
‘All went well thankfully so The Early Bird comeback is on track for Monday 9th January. I’m not better but better than I was and hopefully work will help with healing.’
The host posted a picture of himself on set, smirking and resting his hands on his desk. He was also sporting a GB News ID badge.
On his return to GB News, the former This Morning host has received good wishes from a number of fans.
‘Take care, Eamonn. I hope it all works out for you,’ one person tweeted, while another commented: ‘Continue to grow in strength and get well soon. You are great on our screens.’
Despite his upcoming return to GB News, Eamonn recently shared a ‘soul-destroying’ health update with his fans.
‘Worked hard at my physio this morning. Very tiring but I’ve now sat on my backside for 5 hours and feel bad about doing nothing 
….. lack of mobility & depending on others stops me doing really simple things,’ he tweeted.
‘For peace of mind I feel another round of foot exercises coming on.’
One person who empathised with Eamonn’s pain responded: ‘I feel your pain I had 6 months of physio 2 hours a night 5 a week. I hated relying on folk..but the one thing was NO one will ever understand how awful Physio is and how exhausting.’
‘Relying is soul destroying,’ the TV star replied.
