Eamonn Holmes didn’t hold back as he went on a scathing rant against his former This Morning co-workers Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, claiming the two have “no chemistry.”
Eamonn, 63, addressed the apparent feud between the presenting team on his breakfast show on GB News.
Before leaving ITV, the broadcaster co-hosted the Friday edition of This Morning with his wife Ruth Langsford, 63, until they were replaced by Alison Hammond, 48, and Dermot O’Leary, 49.
Then he went to GB News, with his new post revealed in December 2021 and his début the following month.
Speaking on his show with co-host Isabel Webster on Monday May 15, Eamonn tackled the allegations of Phillip and Holly’s split front on, despite the duo forgetting to acknowledge it on This Morning.
‘I think there should have been a special award for greatest performers for Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby,’ Eamonn snarled.
‘They may or may not be together on the telly today, but he’s brought in lawyers, she’s brought in [a] PR team. The public surely have sussed that there’s no chemistry, that there’s a broken fit between the two of them.’
Eamonn continued stressing that in his opinion, This Morning ‘does not depend on who presents it’.
‘It’s an institution. It will carry on no matter who presents it, and anybody can check the viewing figures. There’s no difference between whether they present it or anyone else,’ he added.
This isn’t the first time Eamonn has criticised Phillip and Holly; he also spoke out against ‘queuegate’ last year, when the pair were accused of skipping the line to see the late Queen Elizabeth II while she lay in state at Westminster Abbey.
Phillip and Holly insisted that they had not infringed the regulations, claiming in a statement that they had not taken anyone’s position in wait.
Reacting at the time, Eamonn said: ‘They didn’t get a fast-track, they say. Lie. They say they didn’t pay their respects to the body. Lie.
‘What else were they there for? Let’s just tell the truth about the whole thing.’
Phillip hailed Holly as his ‘rock’ in a statement last week.
‘As I have said before, Holly is my rock,’ he stressed. ‘We’re the best of friends — as always, she is an incredible support on screen, behind the scenes and on the phone.’
He continued to The Sun: ‘Holly has always been there for me, through thick and thin. And I’ve been there for her.
‘The last few weeks haven’t been easy for either of us.’
