Eamonn Holmes was pulled over by police on his way into work, saying he was ‘delighted’ that it had happened.

The GB News host, who previously presented on This Morning, said there had been car thefts in the area.

He tweeted: ‘Pulled over by the #Police on the way into work and delighted to be so.

‘A lot of car thefts in my area and they were just checking that the car I was in wasn’t one of them… 2 young officers in their 20’s and an absolute credit to @SurreyPolice.’

Eamonn announced his move from ITV to GB News in November, hosting a breakfast show with Isabel Webster. He’s since made various digs at ITV.

It came after 62-year-old presenter and his wife Ruth Langsford, 61, were axed from their usual Friday morning spot on This Morning and replaced by Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary in 2020.

’No one explained anything to me,’ he told The Daily Mail’s Weekend magazine.

‘I’m all for TV companies being able to choose who works for them, but it would be nice if you were told why you were going.

He went on to say of the broadcaster: ’They’re sly. They didn’t want to announce that I’d been dropped because it would adversely affect audience figures, so they made it look as if I’d walked away from them rather than the other way round.

‘They had a chat with my agent and announced that I was going to GB News when they’d done no more than ask if I’d be interested in joining them.’

In response, a spokesperson for ITV said in a statement: ‘This isn’t a version of events that we recognise and as we have said before we wish Eamonn all of the very best.’
