Dr Pimple Popper has her hands more than full in the latest episode of her surgery series when a collection of giant cysts on a man’s head explode with brown goo.

Dennis, 67, has been leaving with several giant lumps on his head, including one the size of a balloon dangling from the back of his neck.

With the lumps growing over the course of 30 years, Dennis goes to visit expert Dr Sandra Lee in a bid to end his suffering once and for all.

He explains that he has trouble sleeping because the one on the back of his head presses in when he lies against a pillow, and can’t leave his house without wearing a hat because he’s so self-conscious of them.

‘The problem with that theory though is the bump on the back of my head is out there for everybody,’ he said.

‘When people are staring, I feel vulnerable. One time I told a little kid that I had a second brain and he didn’t know what to think!’

‘My wife Donna, she’s been a real force to get me to have this done, and I don’t know if I’d be here if it wasn’t for her,’ Dennis admitted.

‘I’ve waited 30 years so I hope that it ends up being taken care of.’

Even Dr Lee is surprised by the size of his cysts, calling the largest, balloon sized one ‘the biggest pilar cyst she’s ever seen’ – but if anyone’s up to the job of fixing it, it’s the world-famous pimple-loving doctor, and he’s soon taken into surgery.

However, soon after the procedure begins she runs into trouble.

Focusing on the largest mass first, Dr Lee believes it’s a ‘water balloon’ cyst – which means it’s filled with liquid and ready to explode at any moment.

On top of that, it’s tethered to his head.

‘When I am lifting this big tumour off of his scalp, I’m seeing a lot more bleeding there,’ Dr Lee reveals.

‘So I am really trying to be very meticulous in cauterizing areas and even tying off blood vessels.’

While she manages to get the lump off in one piece, the others aren’t so forthcoming, and in a second operation things begin to get messy.

In an attempt to remove another cyst, the bump explodes, leaking brown sludge.

‘Dennis’s cyst is completely stuck to his head,’ she later reveals. ‘I’m afraid this is not going to be the simple procedure I was hoping for.’

As the contents run out, Dr Lee compares the mess to ‘old egg salad’ and ‘honey mustard’ – which is enough to put anyone off both for life.

But thankfully, it all worked out in the end, with Dennis and wife Donna finally able to have a more normal life.

‘Dr Lee changed my life because I don’t have to live with these bumps anymore,’ he happily tells cameras. ‘It’s an amazing sight just to see my head without the bumps.’

Dr Pimple Popper continues tonight at 10pm on TLC and discovery+.
