Derry Girls star Siobhán McSweeney is already afraid of what weight-shaming trolls will say when she’s seen in a wetsuit throughout her upcoming documentary, Exploring Northern Ireland.
The actress and presenter of Channel 4’s Great Pottery Throwdown will probably be taking viewers on an in-depth tour via her house nation, deep-diving into experiences she’s by no means endured earlier than.
At one level, she goes on a singletons’ paddleboarding night, which although she extremely recommends, admitted it left her feeling uncovered.
‘There was stuff where I felt very vulnerable around how silly I looked. As a woman, and as a large woman, you think you can’t do issues,’ she defined within the newest Radio Times journal.
‘I’d by no means have thought I may paddleboard. I’m very conscious that after this airs, I’ll get an terrible lot of trouble on social media. I get it now, and I’m not even in a wetsuit.
‘People are very upset when women do not look the shape, colour or sound that we have taught them [they should look]. It’s not their fault in a manner.

‘People have been fed an idea of what womanhood looks like, what manhood looks like, and if you veer out of that, you know, “Shame, shame!”’
The Irish-born star proves to be extra fearless than even she imagined, flying a biplane, climbing as much as a crane cabin 300ft above the bottom and descending into caves.
Siobhan stars as no-nonsense head instructor Sister Michael in Channel 4’s Derry Girls, one of many escape comedies of the final decade.
Due to the Covid pandemic, filming for its third collection has been placed on maintain for the final 18 months.
Sadly, it doesn’t sound as if it will likely be returning anytime quickly.
‘We’re doing collection three sooner or later this 12 months if we are able to lock down the schedule,’ she added.
