Denise Welch and Jane Moore butt heads over William and Harry in passionate row: ‘You’ve talked to me about interrupting’

Denise Welch, a Loose Women panellist, has found herself in the thick of another heated debate while defending Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

An excerpt from Harry’s biography Spare was released on Thursday morning, in which he claimed that Prince William physically assaulted him in a fight about his marriage to Meghan in 2019.

On the same day, the panel of Loose Women, which also included Charlene White, Jane Moore, and Linda Robson, was divided after Denise went to bat for the couple.

‘There is a light being shone on behaviours which have to change,’ she said.

Jane jumped in to say having dirty laundry aired in public could be ‘hurtful’ to the royals, but Denise made it clear where she stood.

‘Why shouldn’t Harry say his peace Jane?’ she questioned.

‘I think he’s had to move away from his family…,’ she was adding before Jane said that he was ‘using [his family] to make money’.

‘You’ve talked to me about interrupting,’ Denise directed at Jane following the interjection, before continuing.

‘The fact is the Royal Family make quite a bit of money, Jane, themselves,’ she stated, claiming that it was ‘game over’ when ‘Meghan was seen as the People’s Princess’.

‘I think do what you like and tell your story.’

Her statement was met with a round of applause by the studio audience, before Jane simply said: ‘Tell it but don’t sell it’.

She also asked Denise if she had ‘blind support’ for the couple, or if she would admit they had ‘made mistakes’.

‘Everybody makes mistakes, but I don’t see anything wrong with getting his wife out of this country,’ she replied.

‘When they said they wanted privacy, they wanted it from other people’s narratives, not from their own story and this is the only way they’ve got to tell it.’

‘I am team Harry and Meghan.’

Denise also had a spat with some of her other panellists, including Jane, last year while they were discussing the royals.

During the exchange, Gloria Hunniford put out her hand in an attempt to calm Denise, who fumed after Jane commented: ‘You can’t say I want privacy but then she’s [Meghan] inviting the journalists into her life’.

More explosive charges are expected in Harry’s book, which will be released on January 10.

Harry has also performed two interviews to promote the book, one with ITV News at Ten’s Tom Bradby and another with Anderson Cooper for 60 Minutes in the United States.

Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV1.
