Ralf Little has nothing but admiration for his siblings who work for the NHS, praising how ‘stoic’ they are despite the ‘danger’ of working on the coronavirus pandemic frontlines.
The Death In Paradise star has a doctor brother and sister, who is a nurse, working throughout the health crisis.
Sharing what it’s been like for his siblings, Ralf said on Good Morning Britain: ‘It’s a good question but I can’t claim to answer for all NHS workers because nobody, whatever they claim, can speak for all NHS workers, but the ones I know, they seem to have a sort of stoicness to them.
‘I guess a quiet heroism really in that it’s their job. My sister’s a nurse, brother’s a doctor, and they’re like, yeah, it’s what we do.’
Ralf continued: ‘We knew that this was going to be tough, give us the right PPE, give us the right protection, make sure we don’t work hours that are unsafe for patients, stop calling us lazy when we ask for proper pay and vote to protect us.
‘In terms of the job being dangerous, they have a certain stoicism and it’s quite extraordinary really.’
The Two Pints of Lager actor also told Susanna Reid and Ben Shephard that he also began training to become a doctor before dropping out of medical school.
‘I guess I lucked out, I’ve got two NHS members in my family,’ he said, adding: ‘I chose a much easier path in life, just swanning around with a camera instead and not particularly regretting it I have to say.
‘I was about five weeks into medical school… It was an unorthodox career choice. [My parents] were great and very supportive. My younger brother’s a doctor now so she’s [his mum] got one in the family.’
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
