Davide Sanclimenti and Ekin-Su Cülcülolu parted about a year ago after meeting on ITV’s Love Island, and it appears that things aren’t quite amicable.
Davide has been uploading images from a trip to the Spanish island Formentera since their separation.
When it came to captioning his picturesque photo, he wrote, ‘The secret of pleasure is freedom, and the secret of freedom is bravery.’
This drew complaints from ardent Ekin-Su followers accusing him of employing a ‘tasteless’ caption directed at her.
Quick to clear things up, the 28-year-old wrote: ‘And for the record, not everything I post is about Ekin.’
Things didn’t end there as a Reddit user shared an alleged screenshot of his response to a comment, in which he brought Ekin-Su’s mother Sezer into the equation.
‘At least her mum will have another man to manipulate,’ the screenshot reads.
Social media users didn’t react kindly: ‘Don’t bash Ekin’s mom now. People shouldn’t be attacking Davide, it’s over it’s just a breakup. But, bashing her parents and saying she is manipulative is so low. No respect at all.’
‘Really really low of him to bring down her mother, thought he was a family man,’ added another.
This follows Davide’s remark in response to days of conjecture about their romance and where the fractures occurred.
He wrote: ‘Did anyone even think how difficult would be for me to post the story knowing that right now all I needed was actually some peace and privacy?
‘Posting publicly about the breakup was extremely difficult yet necessary, despite the urge to keep it private, and contrary to what Chinese whispers are saying, I didn’t blindside her as she was fully aware of my intention to post and at first, she even agreed to post at the same time, she did change her mind last minute though.’
Davide hit out at ‘fake narratives’ and a ‘stream of toxic criticism circulating around me’, stressing that he was a ‘genuine, caring and loving boyfriend for her’.
Ekin-Su, 28, has not posted on social media since the breakup.
