David Tennant is ready to make an epic return to the wondrous world of Star Wars in Ahsoka, the forthcoming live-action TV series planned to premiere this year on Disney Plus.
Rosario Dawson, who played Ahsoka Tano in the second season of The Mandalorian before revisiting the role in The Book of Boba Fett, will direct her own programme as Ahsoka Tano in only a few months.
On Saturday, April 8, at the Star Wars Celebration in London, members of the cast and the story’s creators, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, spoke on stage about what fans can anticipate from the thrilling journey.
In addition to the actors who play Sabine Wren and Hera Syndulla, Natasha Liu Bordizzo and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, taking the stage, Dave Filoni confirmed that ‘the Doctor’ will return.
David, 51, played the part of droid Huyang in three episodes of the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars in 2012.
It’s now confirmed that he’ll be back after his voice was teased in the recently released Ahsoka teaser, with Dave informing the audience that ‘The Doctor’ will be returning.
Describing David as a ‘joy’ and a ‘privilege’ to work with, Dave added: ‘He makes it all work.’
Many fans reacted positively to the news on Twitter, with one person anticipating that the series will be a “masterpiece.”
‘My first love coming back, I’m winning,’ someone else said, while another wrote: ‘We WILL be watching.’
Huyang, an architect droid professor, was said to be at least a thousand years old during the Clone Wars, instructing Jedi apprentices how to manufacture their lightsabers.
David will not only be returning to Star Wars, but he will also be returning to Doctor Who, along with Catherine Tate, very soon.
Making the announcement last year, returning Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies said at the time: ‘THEY’RE BACK! The Doctor and Donna! But… how?! He wiped her memory! If she remembers, she’ll die!
