During this weekend’s premiere episode of Scared of the Dark, the cast members drop a total of 90 F-bombs.

The new Channel 4 reality programme, hosted by Danny Dyer, premieres on Sunday night, with Donna Preston, Nicola Adams, Chris Eubank, Paul Gascoigne, and Max George attempting to live eight days in the dark.

It turns out that cursing is a coping strategy for several of the candidates, including Danny, who used 90 ‘f**ks’ in the first hour-long show.

Sandman actor Donna, who confronts the show’s initial obstacle, opening a succession of doors while a guy in chains creeps up on her, is at the top of the F-word lists with 32.

According to the Mirror, former Love Island star Chloe Burrows is second with 26 ‘f**ks,’ while Gazza is third with 15.

Despite knowing nothing about the competitors, host Danny stuck true to form and dropped nine F-bombs, while The Wanted vocalist Max George said ‘f**k’ just six times and comedian Chris McCausland dropped two.

Meanwhile, Scarlett Moffatt from Gogglebox and former boxers Nicola Adams and Chris Eubank kept it clean and didn’t say a single ‘f**k’.

Danny revealed that Eubank was angered by the foul language used by the other participants, but he used it as an opportunity to encourage everyone else.

‘It was interesting, the swearing thing, because he b****cked me [for it],’ he said. ‘So I thought, “Oh OK, so now I’m really going to encourage every other f***er that you are allowed to swear.”

‘When everybody walked in, they went, “F***ing hell” and I could see him just cringing.’

Danny acknowledged to the press before the series premiere that Eubank went ‘on a trip’ as the episode progressed.

Asked who behaved the worst, he’s quoted by the Daily Star as saying: ‘I suppose badly behaved in the sense of being a bit of a t**t was probably Eubank, weren’t it? He’s on a journey as well, by the way.

‘I think there’s a moment in this where you’re really rooting for Chris as well, by the way. He’s such an emotional man, and he does really open up about some stuff which is important for the show.’

Danny added: ‘Chris as it goes on, you’ll see that he’s the f***ing man in there. He’s the f***ing alpha. Eubank, who’s the f***ing boxer, the physicality. He’s useless in there, and that comes right to the front.’

Scared of the Dark starts on Sunday, April 16 at 9pm on Channel 4.
