Dan Walker has stated that he is still suffering from nerve damage as a result of a near-fatal bike collision earlier this year.
In February, the Channel 5 broadcaster was engaged in a nasty collision that left him injured and bloodied after being thrown off his bike by a motorist.
Dan, 46, was questioned about his recuperation and admitted he has ‘strange nerve damage’ during a Q&A on Tuesday.
One of his 290,000 Instagram followers asked: ‘Are you fully recovered after your cycling accident?’
Former Strictly star Dan said in response: ‘Still got some strange nerve damage down my right side after hitting the floor.
‘If I sit down for ten mins my leg tingles and my foot goes dead. In the process of having it looked at.’
Dan, who posted images from inside an ambulance shortly after his fall earlier this year, spoke of maybe needing to have his teeth out and being unable to feel a portion of his lip.
He posted a series of photographs of his bleeding and battered face on social media after being transported from the site in an ambulance at the time.
‘It was a bit of an accident this morning. ‘I’m grateful to be alive after being hit by a car while riding my bike,’ he added.
He slept for ten days before returning to his job on Channel 5’s 5 News, and he was back on his bike a month later.
In his latest Channel 5 series, Dan & Helen’s Pennine Adventure, he told Helen Skelton of the crash: ‘I was in Sheffield town centre, I can remember getting to the roundabout, I looked to my righthand side, I saw there was a gap and I went into the gap.
‘All I know is I got hit by a car and obviously I smashed my face up a bit, I landed really heavily on my hip.’
One thing’s for sure, Dan’s a real trooper!
